Lo Aguirre

Description: When the customs office towards Maule Lake is inaccessible due to bureaucratic or road issues, this is the classic spot for locals in Maule. At Lo Aguirre, a large parking lot is set up right at the entrance of the hydroelectric project, allowing cars and buses from nearby cities to spend the day in the snow. Slopes with gentle gradients and no obstacles to lines that challenge even the most experienced make this place one of the best spots to progress in the sport.

Snow Months: June – September
Minimum Altitude: 1980 meters (6496 feet)
Maximum Altitude: 2750 meters (9022 feet)
Ascent Time: 30 minutes – 4 hours
Difficulty: lines for all skill levels

Zone 1

Description: The first section of the Lo Aguirre Little Gorge, quick ascent, and lines for beginner and intermediate levels.

Ascent Time: 30 minutes – 1.5 hours

Approach: After parking, start walking along the plain towards the slope. A couple of zigzags and you’re on the ridge. Beginner lines face the road, and intermediate ones face east.

Lines: The beginner section (in green) has a gentle to moderate slope throughout the descent. It’s a northeast-facing slope, so snow conditions aren’t the best in this area. The intermediate lines (in blue) have a steeper slope and hold snow better as they face south.

Difficulty: Beginner – Intermediate
